“Mappa il Randagio” (Map that Stray!) is an app for smartphones and tablets designed to help you report stray animals within protected areas. The aim of the app is to unite a sense of civic duty with a pinch of fun. Using “Mappa il Randagio” anyone can take a picture of a stray they’ve spotted. They can save the picture, give it a name, publish it and share it on social networks. “Mappa il Randagio” will provide real-time details of the sighting, allowing Park authorities to have up-to-date data on the presence of strays.
“Mappa il Randagio” is easy to use and encourages the direct involvement of all, starting from the very youngest. It’s a way of establishing collaboration between those working in the Parks, livestock farmers, the police and civic society.
The app presents a simple menu, with few options. By clicking on “Fai una foto” (Take a picture) you can snap a photo, name, save, publish, and share it on social networks. By clicking on “Mappa” (Map) you’ll be able to see the places where app users have added sightings. By clicking on “Profilo” (Profile) you can update your personal information. Finally, under “Cerca” (Search) every user will be able to view all general sightings.
